…so I glossed over this in yesterday’s post, but I managed to seriously f up my left shoulder in the waves yesterday. I was riding waves in with my hands in front of me as brakes to keep me from eating sand. A particularly biggish wave was driving me in when a second tier of the same wave decided to flip me over and tumble me nicely. My left arm went out of brake mode a little more slowly than my right, my arm twisted at the shoulder just a little too far in some direction or another and I heard a very audible “skritch” noise from inside my body. When I stood up in the waves, my entire left arm was nearly totally numb.
It’s gotten much better since then. I can move my forearm with no problems whatsoever, and I have a certain range of motion of the entire arm, however, whenever I try to lift the arm up over my head I begin to feel some really nasty pain and the entire thing feels a bit stiff with movement.
I wonder if I pulled a muscle, a tendon, or tore part of my rotator cuff. Hard to say. None of it appears to be swollen in the least. I guess I better go see the doctor when I get home (or maybe see the medic while I’m here).
