I was in the middle of an interview this afternoon when Kristin called 3 times in a row. I texted her: “In an interview. Emergency?” She texted back: “I fell. Hurt myself.”
My wife is a dance instructor. I called. She was showing one of her students how not to do a jump and in the process landed incorrectly and hyper-extended her ankle. Tomorrow is the first of the dance school’s 3 recitals. Needless to say, when I received the text message and then spoke to her on the phone, I felt my heart drop. I canceled my attendance for the 2 remaining interviews, told everyone at work what was up, and took Kristin to the emergency room.
Thankfully, the x-rays came out clean and it looks like she just sprained the heck out of the ankle. The doctor said that as a doctor she had to advise Kristin to stay off the ankle, but as a former dancer that she should ice the heck out of it and wrap it nicely and ice it all the time she’s off the stage.
So we’ll wait and see how she is doing in the morning. I just hope that if she is still in pain tomorrow that she babies the ankle and doesn’t try to dance, so that she can heal fully for next week’s performances.
