So, I finally received the HDTV-capable cable box that I ordered shortly after we bought our new 32″ HDTV LCD, and I’m acclimating to watching TV in 1080i all spread out nicely and sharp.
One thing that really threw me for a loop… There’s this one channel amongst all the HDTV ones; it’s labeled UHD, which I think may stand for Universal HD. Anyway, alongside movies there are TV shows, except they aren’t current TV shows. They are Knight Rider, The Equalizer, and Quantum Leap. Someone blew up the quality on these shows, letter-boxed them, and gave them the full pan and scan treatment so that these old classics will appear in HDTV.
Behold the wonders of this thing called man…
