The MPC Live III User Guide is 544 pages long, and the answer to almost every question I have while I’m actually making something is in there somewhere, usually three modes deep. So I did the same thing I did for the TR-1000 and built a search tool for it.
The MPC Live III Assistant is free, works offline, and only searches Akai’s own documentation plus notes from the official tutorial videos. No AI answering questions, so nothing gets made up.
What it searches
- The MPC Live III / MPC XL User Guide v3.10, all 544 pages, with the section and page number on every result.
- Akai’s MPC Live III FAQ and the full spec sheet.
- Notes from 26 videos: Akai’s MPC 3.10 walkthrough and Live III overview, the whole MPC Academy series, and loopop’s review, each linked to the exact timestamp.
- 70 curated how-tos for the things I kept looking up: the step sequencer modes, ratchets and per-step locks, the clip matrix and recording a clip performance to the arranger, MPCe articulations and X/Y layer blending, Touch FX, the 8×8 pad mode, sampling from a phone over USB-C, stems, sending 24 channels to a DAW, CV, and more. Every one cites where it came from.
Get it
Web: use it on the MPC Live III Assistant page, or open it full-window.
Desktop (offline): macOS (Apple Silicon) · macOS (Intel) · Windows
Mac users: if macOS blocks the app, move it to Applications and run xattr -cr "/Applications/MPC Live III Assistant.app" once in Terminal.
If you have a TR-1000 too, the TR-1000 Assistant works the same way.
