Today I had an audio chat with my friend Jason Ball, who lives in London. There was a lot of ambient noise on both ends, so we both grabbed out headsets to chat. As soon as I plugged in mine and said something, he says something like, “Oh, that’s your podcast voice!” And so then I said “This is C.K. Sample, III. Welcome to The Unofficial Apple Weblog Podcast.” And he was like, “That’s it!”
It was sort of odd to think that the sound of my voice is recognizable through that particular mic in a different way than my normal everyday over the phone and chatting in person voice with which Jason has been familiar for well over 10 years. One of those odd internet-separating-from-yourself moments where you realize that the Internet-you has a certain separateness from the every-day-you. Odd.
