Well, it was better than the other two new Star Wars films, but there were some definite dead spots in the film. Good action movie. Not so amazing film. The special effects were off the hook, as they say, the action scenes were pretty amazing with some really fabulous fight scenes, but the drama bits, the love story and the tragedy of Anakin making the wrong choices, fell somewhat flat. Darth Vader yelling “No!” has to be one of the dumbest and off-key 5 seconds of cinema history that should have been left on the cutting floor.
One thing that I’ve noticed with this new trilogy of Star Wars films is that I like each film a little more each time I watch them. I think, to a certain degree, that Lucas et al have become too familiar with their subject matter to make it into an effectively good “wow” film. The first trilogy was awe-inspiring. This trilogy was all back story.
Nevertheless, Yoda kicks ass.
