Kris and I were at a party Saturday night, and during the regular meet and great, “What do you do?” conversation, I found myself ridiculously confronted with the fact (or perhaps confronted with the ridiculous fact) that I do entirely too much:
- I’m an A.B.D. Doctoral Candidate in English at Fordham University.
- I’m a full time employee in the Department of Instructional Technology and Academic Computing at Fordham University.
- I’m an Adjunct Professor in English at Iona College, teaching one course per semester.
- I write a weekly article for AppleMatters.
- I drum up freelance writing gigs whenever I can.
- I’ve recently started doing a few small scale graphic design projects for friends and acquaintances.
- I blog like a maniac.
Add to all this the responsibilities involved with being married (or in any committed relationship), having a pet parrot, and owning and maintaining a co-op apartment, and it is clear that my life is abundantly overfilled. I’m greatful for all these things, but I’ve been feeling a bit frayed around the edges as of late, and may have to rethink my life’s structure soon. Right now all is well, but I can foresee the current path turning into much too much stress if I am not careful.
