Sample The Web

So, before leaving work today, I called the
Apple Store in the
Westchester, and they actually had twenty or so iSights in stock, so I
swung by and picked one up. Here’s my testing.mov
that I filmed using the iSight and Quicktime Broadcaster. Before you
click on that link, be forewarned, it’s 1.1MB. It seems the iSight
needs
lots of light, which is par for course for webcams. The highest
light setting of my apartment renders a picture like the above movie.
If
I turn a halogen lamp directly on my face, the iSight works with near
perfect color. Of course, that would make for very short iChat’s in
the
summer heat. I imagine it works wonderfully in the very horrible
track-lighting of the working world. I haven’t actually tested an
iChat
AV conversation with anyone yet, as all my friends have microphones at
best. More on this and the iSight tomorrow…
