C.K. Sample

Think that is the longest stretch I’ve gone without updating this blog since I
moved it
over to the .mac space. Anyway, all apologies to anyone out there in cyber-land desperately awaiting a
Sample the Web update. I’ve been rather busy-ish trying to get a dissertation proposal put together. I also
was eagerly awaiting the Macworld keynote on Wednesday to see if they would announce any new 15″ laptops. As
they did not, I went by the Apple Store in the Westchester Mall (White Plains, NY) and picked up a 12″
Powerbook w/ combo drive, Airport Extreme card, and 256MB of RAM. I was originally going to get the RAM
maxed out, but unlike the online APple Store, the real world Apple Store wants to either charge you to
install the RAM, or charge you $200 for the upgrade chip, as opposed to the $150 the online store charges (as
they take $50 off for the 128MB chip they remove to up the ante on the whole thing). Suck. I did take
advantage of the recently announced Final Cut Express for $99 with purchase of a new computer deal, and am
currently selling my eduicational copy of FCP3 on ebay. Check it out
if you are so inclined. I’ve received lots of correspondence about it, although no bids yet, but I am
confident it will sell and make me a little profit. I didn’t really need all the Pro extras in comparison to
FCE, so it’s a nice little move to recover some of the money I just bloew on this here laptop that I am
typing on. Oh and about that…
