Description

Limited quantity alternate aluminum front panels for the TipTop Buchla 259t Programmable Waveform Generator. These panels are relatively easy to install yourself and are black with all text and graphics from the original panel rendered in natural aluminum. The panel is 0.039″ Satin Aluminum, so it is considerably lighter than the original panel, while still remaining sturdy and durable. For full details on the TipTop Buchla 259t, please see ModularGrid.

Installation notes:
Although installing this alternate panel is relatively easy, I cannot guarantee functionality of your product after installation. Install this panel at your own risk.
The colored plastic jack covers are easy to remove by hand by pushing into the panel slightly with your fingers and turning by hand. Remove them first and put them in a safe place.
The metal jacks all use standard nuts and all have washers underneath them. Remove carefully and put them in a safe place.
All the knobs simply slide off, but they are the most difficult to remove. I recommend turning them all fully counter-clockwise before you begin, simply to ensure ease of putting them back on afterwards. If you cannot pull them off easily by hand, taking a flat head screw driver and putting the edge of the head underneath the rim of the knob and then turning the screw driver to act as a lever pushing the knob off of the panel works. Take your time and be gentle with this procedure.
Once all knobs, nuts and jack covers are removed from the panel, it should be free to pull off. I recommend flipping the wave shape switch to its middle position, and the remaining switches all to one direction. As you begin to pull the panel away from the board, be gentle and slow and angle the panel slightly to pull away from the switches. The 258t has multiple boards stacked, so it is possible to pull the backboard loose if you are not careful. If this happens while you’re removing the panel, simply gently push it back into place along the connection points.
Once the old panel is removed, you will need to position and try to put the new front panel on. Note that again, the most difficult part will be angling the panel to go over the switches. Take your time and once the switches are clear, you can more easily push the panel down along the other parts. Make sure you get the buttons clear of the panel and everything is firmly seated. Once everything is in place, I recommend putting everything back on with knobs first, since they are the easiest to simply push on, then gently applying the colored plastic jack covers by hand, and then finally putting on the washers and nuts. Wait to fully tighten the nuts until everything is in place.
Good luck and I hope you enjoy this panel!
